Hina doll festival
March is known as the beginning of lots of nature activities.
Speaking of activities, our Paso A Paso Cosmetics Osaka umeda branch have been preparing for the fascinating spring promotion for this month. It’s nice to be busy preparing for the event!
Today I would like to share something about the special gathering of Japan this season.
In some other countries, they celebrate easter, International working women’s day, St. Patrick’s day and more activities.
Here in Japan, we have a traditional doll celebration called ‘Hinamatsuri’or’Hina doll festival’
What kind of celebration it is?
It is counted as special day in Japan for girls, which is celebrated yearly every 3rd of March.
On this day, the family usually ensure that girls have a set of the two main dolls before their Hinamatsuri. Aside from that, some family also holds a party inviting the family members and eat the pinky and colorful sushi called ‘Chirashi sushi’ and other dishes with different meanings.
Chirashi sushi/Scattered sushi
Chirashi sushi has its own meaning in the ingredients used, not the dishes themselves.
Shrimp: Long live until your hips bend
Lotus root: good prospects for the future due to holes
Beans: healthy, work hard, live hard

In the past, there was a custom called “Hina no Kuni Show,” which shows the dolls a view of spring, and it is said that they went out with a “Hina Arare” together with a feast. The taste differs depending on the region.

This means that you will have two shells on one shellfish, and wish you happiness in the future.
It represents a good couple, and the desire to be with one person for a lifetime is included.

Like the topics above, the traditions of Japanese tradition that have been handed down from old times are good things, so I wanted to connect them for generations of different parts of the world.
Please try to taste the food of the Hina Matsuri even just once, as it is not only limited to season😊
